Citizens must take pledge to preserve wildlife: Rao Narbir

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh, March 2 -

Haryana cabinet minister Rao Narbir Singh has said that wildlife conservation is necessary to save the Earth. Today, due to polluted environment and changing nature, the existence of many species of animals and plants is in danger. This year, World Wildlife Day is being celebrated with the theme of ‘Wildlife Conservation Finance: Investing in People and Planet’.

In a message issued here today on the eve of World Wildlife Day, Rao Narbir called upon the people to take a pledge to preserve wildlife. He said the Forest and Wildlife Department is taking many unique initiatives for wildlife conservation in
Haryana. A vulture breeding and conservation centre has been opened in Pinjore, falling in the Shivalik mountain range, in which this endangered vulture species has been preserved. He said similarly, a blueprint of Jungle Safari project has been prepared in the Aravalli mountain range, which will be launched soon. Work is being done on which wild animal should be kept in what category and he himself is monitoring this. He has also visited such safaris built in the forests of Maharashtra and Gujarat.
